There are so many treatments offered by salons nowadays. Honestly, I don’t really know how some of it works.This is so evident especially in hair treatments. From the basic straight or perm, there born hair rebond, relax, semi rebond, reborn and whatsoever. However, what puzzled me the most is the so-called paraffin wax treatment.

Rumor has it that this treatment dips the hand in warm wax. Wow, not only is it expensive but your hand becomes an ingredient in making candles. Then, after a few research, I was actually amazed on how perfect this treatment is for hands and feet care.

Paraffin Wax Treatment

Paraffin wax treatment is a luxurious spa service intended to moisturize and soften the skin. This is often applied to the hands and feet as components of manicures and pedicures respectively.Just as I thought that the wax used is same wax ingredient for candles or hair removal, paraffin wax is a variant that is more viscous and bonds to the skin.Paraffin wax is softer compared to the above mentioned. This wax contains paraffin oil. And since it is soft, it melts at a lower temperature. Thus, the skin can be submerged without the fear of burning or blistering.

The process is actually quite simple. Attendants have their clients dip their hands/feet into the melted wax one. This should be done for a few times to coat the skin evenly.Then, the hands/feet are wrapped in a plastic or any non-absorbent material allowing the wax to settle for about half an hour.

Once the wax has hardened, it can be pulled off in one solid piece. Since paraffin is soft plus the inclusion of oil, it does not adhere to the skin. But rather, after it is peeled, the skin is left slick and soft. This treatment is highly recommended for those with seasonally dry skin. It also works for cracked heels and knuckles or any damage caused by shoes like minor callous.

Actually, paraffin wax treatment have been medically endorsed since 1962. It was said that the warm paraffin is an effective way of applying heat to reduce the swelling in muscles, decrease inflammation of joints and connective tissues, soothe the pain from arthritis and improve circulation.

This simple looking design is very unique in its own specially way.  The white and black on the tip created a beautiful balance between the two colors.  The dots added an extra pattern of intricacy that makes the beholder wonder.
